This study aimed to examine the bias of implicit memory toward processing of negative emotional information and coping strategy between smoker and non-smoker students. This study is a descriptive and type of study is causal-comparative. The statistical population includes all Medical Sciences University students of Tabriz. The Sample included 200 students, 100 smoker students and 100 non-smoker students that were selected randomly. Both groups were evaluated by (A) Root test words (bias of implicit memory) and (B) Lazarus coping strategies questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA).The results showed that smoker students completed more root words test in negative emotion form than non-smokers’ student that implies existence of a bias of implicit memory to a process of negative emotional information near the smoker students. Also, smoker students used more coping strategies when dealing with problems. Finally, results had importantly theoretical and practical implications in the fields of prevention of smoking among university students and also results showed that bias of implicit memory to process of negative emotional information and how to use coping strategies as predisposing factors that possible had an important role in the tendency to smoking among students.
